What is a Response Plan (and why do you need one)?
Button Simple app turns any smartphone into a pressable button, making it a reliable tool for check-ins. When pressed, the app sends a “beacon” to all family caregivers, and lets each caregiver indicate their availability.
To use Button Simple app effectively, you and your family will first need to determine your Response Plan, which informs all family members, both Caregivers and your Care recipient, of their roles and responsibilities. It tells your Care Recipient when to press the Button and Caregivers what to do when they get the notification.
The goal of the Response Plan is to provide positive feedback to your Care Recipient that will help reinforce the new habit of daily check-ins. The app itself does not specify how to respond – that is up to your family.
We recommend meeting as a team to discuss options. We provide a template you can use to make sure you cover all the bases.
We’re looking to our users to come up with creative Response Plans. Here are a few of our ideas:
Visit
In-person visits by one or more family members are a great way to stay connected and provide emotional and physical support.
Phone conference or video call
This works well because it’s a whole lot easier to answer a single inbound phone call than it is to set one up and add people.
Photo frame
Send photos to a photo frame.
More Ideas
- Involve multiple generations - get the grand kids involved!
- Use simple in-bound technologies when contacting your Care Recipient – it’s far easier to answer a phone and join an existing conference call than it is to start one.
- Gamify your response plan - award points and prizes for first-to-respond, most responses, etc.
